Since we’re in the Christmas season, I’ve been thinking about the golden rule - Love your neighbor as yourself. But Jesus, the one who gave us that golden rule, goes a step further and encourages us to make Peace not just keep it. People often say it’s a matter of semantics, but I beg to differ. I think it is a matter of intention. See you can keep peace with force and weapons, but you can only make peace by embracement and acceptance. You can keep peace with your neighbors by putting up fences or not interacting with them, but you can only make peace with them by engaging and having dialogue. So, in the season of giving and “Peace on Earth,” let’s all find ways to make peace with our brothers and sisters in the world.
